Ready to be inspired and learn?

Sewing and teaching are in my DNA. I started handling a needle and thread when I was about 3 years old and pretending to teach before I started school. I got a degree in Education in 1979. I started teaching in several schools about the same time I started to learn to quilt.

Curved piecing was the first technique to capture my heart. I have taken every class I could find that had to do with curves. I have mastered the curve and developed methods to help my students to master these curves too.

Learning new techniques and sewing skills has led me to study with many national teachers and a three-year certification program. I have developed some of my own short cuts and techniques out of my love for challenges. It’s like a game puzzling over a construction issue or a design experiment.

I enjoy knowing all these techniques, finding different applications for them. In the classes I teach, I show students other ways to use what they have learned in class for their future projects.

A peek at some of my work

All these pieces showcase at least one of my favorite quilting and construction techniques. Enjoy the closeup photos of each piece. I hope you are inspired by the colors, designs, techniques, and interesting elements. Take a class with me and see how I do it. You can do it too.

Creating classes to teach these techniques is a fun way to pass on my knowledge to my students. We all have ideas we want to create. I love teaching some ways to get you there.

That's where my tutorials come in - they can help you figure out how to fix those pesky problems that can arise. Plus, I have lots of helpful hints that will make construction faster and easier so your (already rewarding) sewing experience is even more enjoyable.

SPARK YOUR CREATIVITY

My cutting table is 4’x8’ and covered with organized piles of fabric. I'm inspired by color, not stark cleanliness. I have decided PRODUCTIVITY and CREATIVITY are born out of CHAOS. Never apologize for the mess, just keep it from blocking the fire exits.”
